Kynd’s four quality levels: Draft, Fast, Omni and Max, side by side

Same scene, same words, four levels. Here’s what Draft, Fast, Omni and Max look like next to each other, and what each one costs, so you can pick the right level for every shot.

The same close-up at all four levels, playing together. Top: Draft and Fast. Bottom: Omni and Max. This one is silent; each clip further down has its own sound.

The quick answer

Pick the level by what the shot is for. Draft (13 credits for a 5-second shot) is for trying ideas quickly and cheaply. Fast (39) is for quick drafts to share. Omni (48) is the everyday finished shot. Max (64) is for hero shots, with the most detail.

Every level comes out in full HD. What changes is the detail, and you notice it most in faces: eyes, teeth, skin and hair in a close-up, and the small faces in a wide shot. Every clip below shows the same scene and the same words, made at each level.

Scene 1: a close-up

Meet Mara. She stands on a clifftop at golden hour with a red lighthouse soft behind her, looks into the lens and says one line: “Every light out here was lit by someone who refused to leave.” The camera pushes in slowly. It’s a simple shot, and that’s the point: when a face fills the frame, you see every difference.

Each clip has its own sound. They start muted: turn the sound on in the player to hear her.

Up close

The same moment from each clip, cropped in so you can see the detail. On a phone, pinch to zoom.

Draft close-up of Mara mid-sentence: her eyes are soft and unfocused, her teeth blur together and her skin looks smoothed over
Kynd Draft
Fast close-up of Mara speaking: sharper eyes, brows and hoop earrings, with some texture in her skin
Kynd Fast
Omni close-up of Mara speaking: distinct eyelashes, clear teeth and fine lines around her eyes
Kynd Omni
Max close-up of Mara speaking: detail close to Omni, with more natural skin texture and loose strands of hair across her forehead
Kynd Max
  • Draft: the light, the coat and the line are all there, but the face is soft. Her eyes lose their focus, her teeth blur together and her skin looks smoothed over. Great for checking an idea; not one for the final cut.
  • Fast: a big jump. Eyes, brows and earrings sharpen, and her face holds together as she speaks.
  • Omni: the lashes, the teeth and the fine lines around her eyes are all there. This is where a close-up starts to look finished.
  • Max: close to Omni in a close-up like this, with a touch more natural texture in her skin and in the loose strands of hair. Lip-sync stays clean.

Scene 2: a wide shot with three faces

Wide shots are where the levels really earn their keep. Mara laughs with two fishermen as they lift a crate of silver fish onto the quay at dawn: an old man with a white beard in a yellow oilskin, and a young woman with braided black hair in a navy jumper. There’s mist on the water, gulls overhead, and the camera tracks slowly along the quay.

The faces, up close

The same moment from each clip, cropped in on the three faces. In a wide shot each face is only a small part of the picture, and that’s where the levels pull apart.

Draft harbour close-up: the bearded fisherman's face is smeared as he moves, Mara's face is soft, and the young woman's face is hidden as she bends towards the crate
Kynd Draft
Fast harbour close-up: the old fisherman in a flat cap, Mara laughing and the young woman with a long braid, each face clear enough to read the expression
Kynd Fast
Omni harbour close-up: the young woman smiling, the old fisherman in a knitted hat with a full white beard, and Mara laughing, all crisp and clear
Kynd Omni
Max harbour close-up: the young woman, the old fisherman in a cap and Mara share a laugh over the crate, with the most detail in faces, hair and clothes
Kynd Max
  • Draft: the whole scene is there, but the faces smear. The old man’s features blur as he moves, and the young woman’s face is lost as she bends to the crate.
  • Fast: the faces hold. You can read each expression, the old man’s beard and the young woman’s braid.
  • Omni: cleaner again. The knit of the old man’s hat, his beard and Mara’s smile all come through clearly.
  • Max: the most detail in faces, hair and clothes, with all three people crisp. For a wide shot full of faces that matter, this is the one.

Which level should I use?

There’s no wrong answer, only the right level for the shot in front of you.

Draft · 13 credits

Try ideas quickly and cheaply.

  • Test a prompt, a camera move or the timing of a line.
  • Make a few versions and keep the one you like.
  • Expect soft faces: think of it as a sketch.

Fast · 39 credits

Quick drafts to share.

  • Check faces, performance and framing.
  • Good enough to share a rough cut with a collaborator.
  • Faces hold up in close-ups and wide shots alike.

Omni · 48 credits

The everyday finished shot.

  • Finished detail in faces, skin, hair and fabric.
  • The level we’d pick for most shots in a finished film.
  • Only 9 credits more than Fast.

Max · 64 credits

Hero shots, with the most detail.

  • The most detail of any level, and a little slower to make.
  • For the opening shot, the close-up that carries the story, or a wide shot full of faces.
  • A third more than Omni, so save it for the moments that matter most.

A good habit: find the shot at Draft, then make the keeper at Omni or Max. Moving up a level gives you a fresh take, but the words, the cast and the camera you settled on carry straight over.

FAQ

What is the difference between Kynd Draft, Fast, Omni and Max?

How much detail you get, and what the shot costs. Draft is for trying ideas quickly and cheaply, Fast for quick drafts to share, Omni for the everyday finished shot, and Max for hero shots with the most detail. You see the difference most in faces: eyes, skin and hair in a close-up, and the small faces in a wide shot.

How many credits does each Kynd quality level cost?

For a 5-second shot: Draft 13 credits, Fast 39, Omni 48 and Max 64. The KyndCreate pricing page has the plans and top-ups.

Is Kynd Max always better than Omni?

Max has the most detail, but in a close-up Omni comes close, and Max costs a third more and takes a little longer to make. Save Max for the shots where detail carries the moment: hero close-ups and wide shots with several faces.

Do Draft and Fast shots come out in full HD?

Yes. Every level comes out in full HD. What changes from level to level is how much fine detail you see, especially in faces.
